Summer Sessions

The tri club are no longer running their own Sunday rides, but HPTC members are very welcome to join in with Buxton Cycling Club (BCC) on their Sunday rides. The BCC rides are very popular and are excellent for building a base for the Spring and Summer racing. The rides start at 09:00 from the Edinburgh Woollen Mill Shop on the Quadrant in Buxton. The rides take to local roads as well as roads on Cheshire Plains. There is also a stop off at a cafe somewhere along the ride for a coffee/tea and a slice of cake. Buxton Cycling Club are also running a number of rides during the week. There is also the prospect of doing some road racing, if you feel brave! For more information please visit the Buxton Cycling Club website

We also recommend doing time trials as a great way of improving your cycling ability. Once again, Buxton CC provide the events, as they run weekly time trial events at Waterswallows on Tuesday nights throughout the summer. Have a look at their webpages for more details.

Winter Sessions

Over the winter, HPTC run turbo training sessions every Thursday from 7-8 pm at Buxton Rugby Club. Turbo training is a great way to improve your leg speed and strength over the winter in a safe environment, and training with other people adds to the enjoyment of the process. After a winter with 'turboing' as part of you training program you should find yourself flying into April with new PBs.

Thank you for the Turbo Sessions over the last few months, in my first 10 mile TT of the year I was over a minute quicker than the same event last year, and the weather was rubbish!
